Robot

Little Monkey got a big box of stuff to build things for his birthday. There were paints, glue, tape, and lots of odds and ends out of the recycling box. Yesterday he and Big Monkey started to build a robot. They made a plan and everything ahead of painting. This afternoon Little Monkey added the legs and head-do.

Play doh!

I made some glittery play doh for Baby Monkey. She enjoyed bashing it with the rolling pin and sticking straws into it.

Valentine's Day Cards

and a Wedding card.

It's a bit late to show these but I made them well in time for Valentine's Day.

Birthday time

On Tuesday Little Monkey had his birthday. He was very excited and had been counting days for at least a couple of weeks. Finally it was here and he got to blow out candles, open his presents and eat cake.

Unsurprisingly he got some Playmobil:

Scotland

In the Christmas holidays we went to the Island of Arran in Scotland. We took the train which Little Monkey liked a lot although it got a bit long in the end. Four and a half hours are long even on a train.

The Monkeys made soap. They added a soap shape then poured the liquid soap into molds, adding scent and colour. Big Monkey used a snow flake and made the soap for her cousin. Little Monkey made a yellow submarine in an orange soap. This they liked very much. We also did a lot of walking exploring the island when it wasn't raining too hard. This the Monkeys didn't like that much.

Crochet beanie

I crocheted a hat for Daddy. It was meant to be a Christmas present but as he only told me the day before it took a while longer to get it done.

Nice wavey lines in pretty colours. Baby Monkey thought it was pretty and thought she shows it off. On the school run to drop off the other monkeys.

Things we did in the holidays Part 2

We went to Port Lympne Zoo.

Quite obviously I got some new equipment for the hipstamatic app. We did enjoy the zoo, I also have some photos of animals, honest, but I reckon you all have seen giraffes and the like before. What we enjoyed about this Zoo was the sheer size of it, you can take a safari on a lorry to see the animals roaming around. Not the big cats though, they have their own enclosure. Don't think there would be many zebras left if they didn't.

Baby Monkey's first steps

Trying but it's hard.

Things we did in the holidays

We've been really busy this summer, we had friends visiting, Daddy Monkey had days off.

This is the second day Mrs Wookie had visited us, we drove to Folkestone where there was some Pirate do but really was just a band playing sea shanties when we finally arrived. However, the playground was really good fun.

Little Monkey doesn't like loud music. Surprising really, considering how much he likes to make noise himself.

In the evening we went for Dinner and Baby Monkey had her first taste of corn on the cob. At first she didn't quite know what to do with this but she soon got the hang of it. She was very proud of this.

Sissinghurst Castle

Mrs Wookie visited us for the weekend so we pulled out all the stops and took her to Sissinghurst Castle to have a wander round the gardens and the Smallholders Fair. Of course we knew, that she always wanted to see the famous white gardens. *cough, cough* It's not like we only chose it because it's close and we just had driven past last week...

Baby Monkey soon decided that Mrs Wookie was trustworthy and was capable of holding her.

Baby also got a little scoop of vanilla ice cream from the lady at the stall so she didn't have to share with her siblings, or any grown-ups. Nice lady.

Daddy got some beer, Little Monkey got some cheese. Don't they look happy? They were.

London - Natural History Museum

On Sunday we went into London to visit the Butterfly house at the Natural History Museum and to pick up Big Monkey who had visited a friend for the weekend.

Of course we also went inside but we didn't go into the dinosaur exhibition, there were simply too many people. We wanted to see the volcanoes but sadly that exhibition was closed. Little Monkey was a little bit disappointed.

But he got to go on a really fast train, apparently the fastest in the UK. Don't let the look on his face here fool you, he was really excited. It was the first thing he told everybody we met today. He wasn't worried any more that we might get lost but he was concerned that we might miss THE train. The concept that there are regular twice an hour trains wasn't a concept he understood easily.
