365 - 122 The painter is in...

I just learned about the other meaning of that phrase but alas we have a real painter in who has painted my craft room and has just finished the garden gate. It looks very posh now.

But the white specks you see on the photo. Well, you remember the cherry tree I moaned about last year? Yes, it has struck again. It shed its blooms all over the freshly painted gate. We're already poised for the onslaught of the cherry eating birds. Daddy Monkey bought an attachment for the garden hose to clean the car with...

365 - 121

Daddy Monkey and I went out last night to a lovely pub for dinner. I liked how the light got reflected in the spoon.

365 - 120 Flowers

On the school run I drive past Hampstead Heath and today there was a bit of a traffic jam so I had time to notice the flowers on side of the road. Not sure what their name in English is but we had them in the field at my Grandparents' house when I was a little girl but they disappeared within a few years. Their stems don't snap when you try to pick them or when the farmer came with his big machine. Instead the whole root ball comes out and so they never had chance to keep growing. Makes me really sad, they look so cheery. Although happy to see them here to grow in such abundance.

365 - 119 Hey, young man...

When Big Monkey wanted to cut her hair I warned her that people might think she's a boy. Well, last week the painter thanked her for bringing him the key by saying "Thank you, young man". She giggled when she told me. Then a few days later the girl at the cinema told me, that the 3d goggles wouldn't fit him as they were for smaller children. Big Monkey was a bit flustered and told her in no uncertain terms, I'm a girl not a boy. Poor girl was most apologetic. Then today the postman called her mate. Big Monkey just sighed when she told me and rolled her eyes. I told her that Mrs Wookie's Princess had the same problem until recently. She was the final step that persuaded Big Monkey to cut her hair short, as she realized that not all girls have to have long hair.

My cunning plan already worked:

365 - 117

I've lost count of the days but I think I've caught up now. In any case today's Sunday papers were full of supplements of the Royal Wedding. Big Monkey has missed the kiss on Friday so she now got lots of photos to see it again.

365 - 116

Big Monkey and I went to the garden centre on Saturday to buy a few bedding plants to fill up hanging baskets and pots. I also needed a new feature plant to put where the old tree trunk was that we've had cut down at the end of winter. We had a hard time to make up our mind between this Japanese acer and a fuchsia. But I think we made the right decision. It looks splendid in its light blue pot.
