365 - 203 Cat

This is my cat waiting to get water. She is not stupid, she knows that tap is a tap like any other so she knows, KNOWS that she could drink water from it. What she doesn't know is why she can't get water from here, she just don't understand so she sits there and waits patiently that maybe, maybe one day someone comes and turns it on. Occasionally Little Monkey turns the tap on, sometimes the painter did when he was here. I have visions of a flooded street when nobody turns it off again.
And did I tell you about the time Monkey cat was pink? Yep, when the afore mentioned painter painted the back and front door red silly kitty walked by too close. I came home to find her fur had a pink tinge to it. We had to give her a little trim round the edges. The painter offered to use some white spirit on her. We had to break it gently to him that the reason to cut the hair off was because she would lick her fur so neither paint nor white spirit would do her any good. But as you can see she's back to her usual colouring.

365 - 202 Potato harvest

One of the potato plants suddenly lost all its leaves, it looked really sad with only the stems sticking out of its pot. "It's dead!" proclaimed Big Monkey, totally dead. But I was adamant that we would find potatoes, she wouldn't believe me so the excitement was even bigger when we found 37 potatoes! And you know what? They were the best potatoes ever.

365 - 201 Painting the garden

Finally a bit of sunshine and the chance of a dry day. So we decided to make some outdoor paints for the patio.

They were quick to make, just water, corn flour and food colouring. Apparently they wash off easily.

The kids had a blast and were excited to show Daddy. Unfortunately Daddy Monkey has wizened up and presumed that the paints were not permanent. Which took the fun out of it a bit for me I have to say...
Oh and about the washing off easily, well, it rained quite hard and the colour is still on but with it does wash off with the hose so I presume a few more showers and it will be gone.

365 - 199

I have no idea either... whenever I pointed my camera at Little Monkey he started to shake his head and grinned like mad.

I caught him unaware on this one. He started shaking his head the moment he noticed my a second later.

And in case you're wondering, yes I do have a very cute water melon die for the Bigshot but they really like water melons. Or water lemons as Little Monkey insists on calling them.

365 - 198

Last time Daddy Monkey went to Berlin for a business trip he brought back some presents. Including an ice cube tray with shapes in form of the traffic light man. I simply love his hat.

At the pool

Little Monkey came with Big Monkey and me to the swimming pool this afternoon.

He loved climbing the tree and run around the pool building. His backpack is full of cars but he didn't want to play with any of them. Just run around and sit in trees. Like a proper Little Monkey.

365 - 189

Little Monkey didn't want his photo taken: KEEP BACK says the little note on the traffic sign.

We went to a birthday party for one of Big Monkey's friends and got a big box of cars just for himself. The other children who came close to have a look were firmly sent away. Not only by Little Monkey but also by his new bestest friend, Mum of one of the party guests.

365 - 188 Fun Day for Mums

Went to Mrs Wookie's for a day of scrapbooking, chatting, laughing and having fun.

365 - 187 Scary Monster

At Big Monkey's school summer fayre they created scary monsters:

And fed them cakes...

Let them gamble for pots of golden honey and pan for gold and hunt ducks.

But they didn't give the parents any tea... or they hid it somewhere.

On the tube

Little Monkey simply loves looking out of windows of trains. Preferable at other trains passing.

365 - 186 Spelling anyone?

I spotted this sign while driving past in a taxi this afternoon. In case you can't read it, it says "Reident permit holders only"...

Horses!

I love London, where else would one be in a traffic jam during morning rush hour not because of traffic but a herd of horses galloping along the road...

The recorder concert

Yesterday was the music performance at Big Monkey's school. She has been learning the recorder for several years now. Now the recorder wouldn't have been my first choice of instruments to learn but she really enjoys it. She practices without being nagged and she often plays it as part of a game. She has progressed a lot and her music sounds pretty good for a recorder. But of course in the beginning it sounded very squeaky. I don't have to spell out how that concert went with all the beginners playing happily some weird melody that has been created to learn the notes in a way that make sense for the recorder.
After the recorder came the piano performance, which was interesting I'd say. Sometimes I even recognized the song. And after that I left so I missed out on the guitar show. Which apparently was the best or so Big Monkey told me.

365 - 184

I think I'm a day behind with my photos...

Unfortunately this is also the case for the weather, today is a lot cooler than that today.

365 - 183 Public Transport

Monday was our six monthly visit to the Eastman Dental Hospital. I was again surprised how efficient and well equipped this hospital is. There were the usual toys and magazines and then there was the Nintendo WII. And it worked! That was what amazed me the most. There are often very nice toys in waiting rooms but there are always parts missing or the batteries are empty but this not only had all the necessary controllers, it worked perfectly. Not that Big Monkey had much chance to play on as we only had to wait for a few minutes. After we came back from the X-rays the dentist was actually waiting for us!

All this took a while so it was rush hour which made us reluctant to go by tube so we found our way with the bus which was actually quite pleasant. We got a place at the top, part of the journey we even managed to scramble for the first row. Simply "The best" place in a bus!

We were well equipped and prepared for the long journey.

365 - 182 School Sport Picnic

Today was Big Monkey's School Sports Picnic in Kenwood House. There are races, sack races and egg & spoon races. But mainly it's a big get- together with the chance for the kids to run around madly and the parents have a nice chat and something to eat.
